A Little About Me
My name is Lili Price, and I have been drawing since before I could talk. When I was three years old I decided I was going to be an artist (at the time, my art consisted of giant faces, undefined shapes, and mermaids). Now, I plan on becoming a designer and my work ranges from holiday gnomes to 1920s fashion to colorful birthday cakes to detailed, black and white patterns. I sell these designs on products such as stationary, wrapping paper, and framed art.
My Story
I've always had an interest in fashion. When I was a 3rd grader I was obsessed with Rosy Flo's coloring books - they included dresses, shoes, and hats, but no faces, legs, or arms. This was perfect for me because I only had to color in the clothing (and I was not the best at drawing people). One day, my mom suggested making such a drawing myself - a dress with matching shoes and hat, but no person. I did, and discovered I was actually quite good at it. We scanned the designs and printed them on stationary cards, handpicked colored envelopes, and put a set of 12 in a nice box to send to family members for the holidays.
It was through this that "Designed by Lili" started. I have sold in a shop in Santa Fe, NM and at my old school's Winterfest marketplace for four years now. While I don't continue to make these figures, I continue the practice of drawing often small and detailed designs to put on cards sold with matching envelopes. I now draw a wide range of designs such as Christmas gnomes, San Francisco's famous Victorian houses, birthday cakes and fashion drawings in pen and ink (sometimes using pointillism techniques). I have also expanded to selling calendars, gift tags, framed art, and wrapping paper.
